Life’s Passion

I guess you could say that I entered into photography by accident while attending the University of California at Davis.  I was working for the school publication as a features writer.  The editor came to me with an assignment and said “here’s a camera, we’ve run out of photographers”.  Somehow, I got hooked on taking photographs the moment someone said to me, “you’re a good photographer”!  I guess that’s how most photographers get their start, people telling them that they are good photographers.  After graduating in 1978,  I opened my first studio in a small shopping center in Dublin, and eventually moved into Pleasanton in 1986.

But I really wanted to be a great photographer, not just a “good one”. So I studied under several studio photographers as an apprentice.  Throughout my career, I figured that if I can get my work to be judged as good as the International Master Photographers, my work for my clients will be great.  So I pursued, and earned, my Master of Photography degree.  To me, having my portraits accepted  literally as the world’s finest is one of the greatest accomplishments in my life.  My work has now gone beyond the recorded history of faces.  It is now art.
